1997 Immigration and Nationality Act(INA) Section 245(i)
This Amnesty Bill extended the Immigration and Nationality Act(INA) Section 245(i) of 1994. The deadline for illegal aliens to apply for amnesty was extended a total of three times. The Bill was originally set to expire on September 30,1997. The first extension of the Amnesty Bill moved the deadline to October 23, 1997. The second extension of the Amnesty Bill set the deadline for November 7, 1998. The final Amnesty Bill deadline was extended by Congress until January 14, 1998.
